Strengthening Motorcoach Travel Across the South Central Region
SCMA’s roots trace back to 2003, when industry leaders recognized the need for a unified voice. On May 28, 2003, approximately 35 industry professionals gathered in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, representing motorcoach operators, suppliers, and industry partners. Building on earlier discussions in New Orleans, the group formally established the Louisiana Motorcoach Association, electing a board of directors, adopting bylaws and a code of ethics, and creating membership guidelines.
As the association grew, it expanded beyond Louisiana to serve a broader regional network. Today, SCMA represents operators across four states, working together to strengthen the industry and support tourism throughout the South Central United States.

Governing Framework
These bylaws ensure transparency, consistency, and accountability in how SCMA conducts business, makes decisions, and represents the motorcoach industry across Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. They also define the roles of the Board of Directors, committees, and members while establishing the rules that support effective governance and collaboration.
